The Terrible Reality of Ocean Acidification
(All Images Thanks to Naked Man in a Tree)
With all the fears that we have regarding man-made, or anthropogenic climate change; rising oceans, depleted ozone, copious amounts of CO2, Methane and Nitrous Oxide changing our atmosphere at an unprecedented rate – it seems that Ocean Acidification might be the most disturbing of all of these. This calm and concise TED presentation by Rob Dunbar details how the short-term future of Earth’s Oceans, over 70% of it’s surface, might look given our current trends.
Rob Dunbar hunts for data on our climate from 12,000 years ago, finding clues inside ancient seabeds and corals and inside ice sheets. His work is vital in setting baselines for fixing our current climate — and in tracking the rise of deadly ocean acidification.
