Growing is Forever: Redwood Forests
Jesse Rosten’s ‘Growing is Forever‘ is one of those short films that sweep into your life with the kind of visual impossibility that has you startled for days. Set in the Northern Californian Redwood Forests the filmmaker’s shooting and editing skills dance across the screen with expert elegance.
I have a deep affection for the Redwood forests of Northern California. This is my best attempt to capture the reverence I feel when in the presence of these giants.
The female narrator adds an even deeper elaboration to what already charms the eye and warms the soul. A truly inspiring and breathtaking three minutes.

Wow...breathtaking. Almost made me cry. I spent a year amongst the Redwoods and it was one of the most reflective, engaging, confusing, exhilerating, hard, yet amazing times of my life. Throughout it all though, it was always such a relief to walk through the forest. Mother nature has an amazing way of grounding you when you need her to. I wish I could be there right now...smelling the pungent earthy smell of a damp forest. Amazing! Brilliant little piece...I'm passing it on.
I have, several times in my young life, stood in awe and humility among the Giant Sequoia. Having just listened to Ms. Rosten's narrative and the accompanying music I wish I had been able to listen to that exposition through headphones as I stood among those giants. She is so absolutely right, about "growing is forever." The power and persistence of those living monuments to life certify her acknowledgment. On a trip to California, lost or bored?. Find your way to these great forests and let them pull worry, stress, disappointment and even anger from you and leave you new-birth pristine and filled with both hope and jubilation. Thank you Jesse for you beautiful homage.
