Welcome Home

It’s a rarity that one can post a feature film – even the documentary sort – anywhere without some sort of legal backlash. But Home is different. ‘Home’ is meant to be shared. Home is a film about the planet for the planet’s eyes. I haven’t seen anything more beautiful on a screen since I watched Ron Fricke‘s stunning feature-length timelapse, Baraka. Home, released in 2009 was the directorial debut of Yann Arthus-Bertrand (photographer-extraordinaire). Here’s the synopsis.:

This environmentally conscious documentary produced by Luc Besson, and narrated by Glenn Close. Shot in 54 countries and 120 locations over 217 days, Home presents the many wonders of planet Earth from an entirely aerial perspective. As such, we are afforded the unique opportunity to witness our changing environment from an entirely new vantage point. In our 200,000 years on Earth, humanity has hopelessly upset Mother Nature’s delicate balance. Some experts claim that we have less than ten years to change our patterns of consumption and reverse the trend before the damage is irreversible. Produced to inspire action and encourage thoughtful debate, Home poses the prospect that unless we act quickly, we risk losing the only home we may ever have.

You can peruse Yann and his team’s mind-blowing work here, on this great interactive site.

Watch the film. Let it wash over you. Let it stir you. Then share it with your friends and tell everyone you can….

Home is a beautiful work of art that entails this amazing experiment that we are all a part of, Earth. There can be no more excuses that allow abusive behavior to continue, depleting our natural habitats. As the Earth tries to balance it's nature with what human behavior has done to our natural resources, we need to ask ourselves, "What changes can I make to live a more sustainable lifestyle?" It starts with our Goverments rebudgeting military spending dollars that instead go to education.  Investing in sustainability, not the destruction of life, will be the turning point. We all have the power to change.

This is the most stunning film I've ever seen.
