A Spiral Bridge

This phenomenal bridge (built between 2006 and 2007) in Evry, France is a wonderful creation that reminds me somewhat of the helix structure. It’s 70 meter expanse was designed by Paris-based architecture firm DVVD to be “transparent and fun”. And it truly is designed to suit the needs of all. It’s spiralling, shell-like design means pedestrians are provided with a highly-lit protective passage over busy roads and river, while the vehicles below are protected from unruly pedestrians who may throw objects. All due to a mesh (made of connected circular tubes) surrounding the bridge, which by making a quarter turn per section, is left open enough at the top so as not to cage in.

this is such a brilliant piece of art

Reminds me of a Calatrava walkway in Athens. Very cool!
