Use Art To Turn The World Inside Out

Can art save the world? In short, the answer is No.
And when asked this same question, brilliant French graffiti artist “JR”, looked inwards and said the same thing. “What have I done to save the world?” he asked himself. The question is terrifyingly big.
But when the question was re-framed to “change the world”, JR felt he had more to say on this. Watch the phenomenal TED talk below to see how he began his career tagging rooftops and walls in Paris, and moved on to photographing disenfranchised people across the world. JR uses art to activate the poorest communities and in doing so challenges perceptions and stereotypes the world over.
I am a believer that art can help save our the world. It makes us stop and think, ask questions and discuss the answers with each other. It is our culture that defines us after all.
