4 Ways To Green Your Office [Infographic]

Canon have long since employed the Kyosei philosophy as their corporate tradition. In short, it reflects the notion of ‘sustainability’ into it’s very core: “all people, regardless of race, religion, or culture, harmoniously living and working together into the future.” This dedication to the common good permeates their entire operation, from distribution, to sales, marketing, R&D and manufacturing.

There is often a trade-off in peoples minds between sustainable actions by a large corporation and the impact that will have on their revenue (which trickles down into the amount of people that the company can employ). Canon pose as proof that there is financial benefit to be extracted from caring for the environment: by remodelling the energy consumption for 5 of their US buildings, they have seen huge monetary benefits to doing so:

On an environmental level, the company reportedly saved 2.7 million kilowatt-hours of energy from 2009 to 2010. And aside from helping the planet and cutting down its carbon footprint, the company saved more than $300,000 during a two-year period since the energy-saving program’s inception in 2008. That’s a lot of money. [Source]
