Worth A Watch: 300 Years Of FOSSIL FUELS In 300 Seconds

Author Richard Heinberg is somewhat of an expert on ecological issues and, in particular, oil depletion. He is author of Peak Everything, The Party’s Over and the newly published The End of Growth.

In 2010 he united with the Post Carbon Institute; an organisation founded in 2003 that is “leading the transition to a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable world”. They created this excellent animated video, “300 Years Of FOSSIL FUELS In 300 Seconds” in which Heinberg narrates a kind of RSAnimate-style mosaic of our relationship with our wondrous, almost-peaked energy source. How often do you get such a broad sweep of history condensed into just five minutes of your day… well six, if you read the introduction.
