Urban Times Meets Boris Johnson

On Friday 16th September, Urban Times had the unique opportunity to interview Boris Johnson, Mayor of London. The 13 minute interview covered such topics as:

  • London Riots
    • How the new Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe will prevent such problems arising again.
    • Initiatives like ‘Team London’ that will constructively engage Londoners in order to prevent anti-social behaviour.
  • Going Green
    • How the Mayor envisages putting ‘the village back into the city’.
    • Energy efficient systems that will cut carbon emissions while reducing energy bills.
  • Effects of Fiscal Tightening
    • Despite the budget cuts transport is flourishing.
    • The significance of the recent opening of Westfield Stratford.
    • Reasons why transport costs rising by up to 7% will not deter people from taking public transport.

Probing questions pertaining to essential topics.Although I am on the other side of the Atlantic, I thoroughly enjoyed this interview and particularly enjoyed Boris' views on a green and sustainable future (probably not a surprise for those of you who read my articles) - especially with trying to increase sustainable transportation and SUSTAINABLE ENERGY (which is VERY important - CO2 output needs to be impeded). Magnificent job Charlie, Stephanie, Alex, Rory and all else involved! Great work!

Thought Provoking questions by an eloquent interviewer and equally impressive answers form our loquacious Mayor. Although i am not convinced that his quote is correctly attributed to Aristotle!, i do agree with the him in the importance of what the UT is doing. Great editing! I look forward to the next UTTV installment.

A great interview, and I am sure the questions asked have been imprinted on people's mind's. Boris spoke well and I truly enjoyed that. Wonderfully pulled off.

Excellent interview and a good insight pre election. I wonder what Ken livings ton would say to all the urban times questions. Definitely writhe seeing if he agrees to speak as I doubt he would be so open, but you never know

I really enjoyed the questions, I thought they were thought provoking and gave an insight into the mayor's current stance. Great interviewer

A very thought-provoking and incisive interview. How refreshing to find a competent and eloquent interviewer who allows the Mayor to speak, and listens to his answers without interruption!

URBAN TIMES this is great progress from you guys and I am very happy to call myself a regular reader. Boris is great too!!

The interview was in true style of our Mayor- articulate and to the point! Great questions- excellent interview style to the Interviewer.

boris shocked me with his ability to articulate... i'm from canada and just remember when he was first campaigning for mayorship. Not to say he wasn't articulate then, he definitely was!!, its just that he has a great fluency now that really lends to such an intelligent speaker. I very much enjoyed his words for the urban times readers!!! what a treat that was!

Find interview very informative and grasped alot of what the mayor was saying.

Brilliant questions, great interview and very good solid answers. Well done to the lovely interviewer!
