Upgrade: Higher Tech For Humankind
The trailer you’re about to watch comes from one of Urban Times‘ favourite websites, Motherboard.tv – the video production home of forward-thinking blissful hi-tech geekdom. Last month they unveiled their newest web series, Upgrade: Higher Tech For Humankind. We are so excited about it because it’s highlighting individuals and organizations who, through a wild array of creative processes, are striving to “change the world for the better, generally without the help of big funding, institutions and labs”. Having just launched a similar series of our own – 15 Startups That Improve Our World, we feel a certain kinship. And it’s always such a great feeling to be reminded that you’re not alone. Motherboard says that they’ll;
“be hanging out with these independent-minded inventors, scientists and visionaries to learn about the clever ways they’re ignoring the way things are to tackle our toughest problems and developing new technologies to make the future better. And it starts today, which is good, because there’s a lot of work to do.
What’s more, in the hope of inspiring you to pursue your own game-changing project, we’re partnering with Toshiba to give five people the chance to win $1000 by submitting their ideas to save humankind (enter here). Now we’re cooking with gas. Or, you know, something else if you’ve got a better idea.
So, we suggest you get involved! And once you’ve been enticed by the trailer, you should check out Episode 1: Using Lasers To Make It Rain.
