THRIVE: Infographics that will Upset the Banks [INFOGRAPHICS]

Thrive Movement, the intriguing organization behind the unconventional documentary ‘Thrive’ that is being released on 11.11.11, has just released a couple of INFOGRAPHICS that would have some bankers and economists guffawing, shaking their fists and picking up their silver-plated pitch forks.

The releases coincide with The Bank Transfer Day movement which is calling for people to move their money from the large corporate banks to local community banks and credit unions. The idea is to “STOP funding the problem AND START funding the SOLUTION all in ONE move” (source) through proactive non-participation (think Gandhi or Martin Luther King). The goal is to take away power from an apparently corrupt banking system overseen by big centralised banks. Urban Times doesn’t want to point fingers, because we don’t have all the evidence. We do report on the views and we like to stir up the pot.

Check out the INFOGRAPHICS below. You may gasp in shock or roll-your eyes in skepticism. Either way, you will be able to decide for yourself when the documentary launches next week.

Urban Times is working closely with THRIVE to connect you to the film, which will be viewable online for a small fee. We will have 100 free tickets which we will be giving away in a competition coming soon.

you are right you probably would see things get worse to start with but the bottem line isnt about making thing better over night thats never going to happen. infact everyone needs to accept that thing will get much worse before they get better. what its about is taking the power out of the hand of the top people. There is no fix to the money issue in America or anywhere else so why try and save it?? For change to happen people have to change how they live, you cant keep adding 2 and 2 together and hope to get anything other then 4 at the end.

Since when do these large financial institutions rely so desperately on consumer banking? Most of them have not been in the game that long. Further, these institutions can lend without even a tenth of the loan on deposit. Don't worry, Stephanie, such a move will have absolutely no effect on the economy. In fact these institutions have enormous amounts of cash that they refuse to lend. And refusing to offer credit makes all manner of economic activity difficult. However, it is a very good idea to refuse to place one's funds with a financial institution whose board members drink fresh puppy blood every morning as they figure out how to dig up, cut down and siphon more of everything.

I think you're right, Stephanie... They are silly ideas.

i might be a bit naive for asking this, so pardon me. but if people were inspired by this movement and did indeed move all their money from the big baking corporations to small local banks, wouldn't we see the economy deteriorate even more harshly than it has in the last few years?
