Rohit Talwar: Exo-skeletons
Exo-Skeletons
As part of our groundbreaking series Back to the Futurist, we interviewed Rohit Talwar at the Victoria & Albert Museum‘s brilliant ‘Power of Making‘ Exhibition. Using the exhibition as inspiration for our conversation Rohit delved into a mind-boggling array of possibilities that may very well define the world of tomorrow. In this video he covers exo-skeletons: now, with military exploration into the concept, no longer stuff of science fiction. What might a paralysed man such as Stephen Hawking eventually use to power movements?

Bionic Exoskeleton Suits of the Future
Dear Santa, Can I have an Exoskeleton for Christmas?
Even before I read 'Dear Santa, Can I have an Exoskeleton for Christmas?', I was saying to myself "where can I get one of these?"
Right! Santa left an exo-skeleton under the Christmas tree. I imagine the military will be the first to benefit, then they could be used for jobs requiring manual labour. James Cameron's long had a fetish for the concept - the yellow Ridley-bot that fights off mama-Alien in Aliens, and obviously the marines use them in Avatar. But you can go even further back to the 1970's and see Cameron's first short film "Xenogenesis", for which he built the sets and you'll find an exo-skeleton robot with four legs that is used by the female-hero lead to defend an embattled teenage Bill Wisher.
