Mentality Trends in Fashion, Beauty and Sex

Designers are not the ones that dictate the rules anymore… [there is] a fashion democracy on the rise

Have you ever wondered why you dress in a certain way? Or why you feel beautiful with that particular suit on? Is it because you saw it as a trend in a fashion editorial and decided to follow it?

I am going to guess that the answer to this last question is no. Designers are not the ones that dictate the rules anymore. As a matter of fact, we can say that there have been severe mutations in fashion systems that predict a fashion democracy on the rise.

I began this research with my MA dissertation, and since then, this matter has become seriously enlightening to fashion and beauty industries and important by foreseeing a breakthrough in what concerns fashion trends forecasting and analysis.

This report expatiates on the mentality background that consolidates the basis on which new products and services are crated in response to the demands of a new individualistic consumer. Five major Mentality Trends in fashion, beauty and sexual behaviour that provide an overview about what we are really thinking about in ours social and sex roles today, where do we come from and where are we going to.

Hi Salome, What a great article!

As you know, this is not my field, but now I'm curious why we (human specie in a western world) dress in a certain way. If we is not " because you saw it as a trend in a fashion editorial and decided to follow it" (that I fully agree), why is it? Each person as their own "driver"(democratic way)?
Another question is: "Do you think it's a demand pressure, or a supply pressure? In my Homo sapiens case, I would say it's a supply pressure. For instances, if I need a coat, I will go to a shop and I will choose one of the ones appearing in the showcase, depending the ratio price/quality (and here quality I mean also my particular opinion…).

Once again, thank you to share it!

    David
