In January 2012, Environmental chemist Brian P. Jackson, and his research team at Dartmouth Toxic Metals Superfund Research Program found dangerous amounts of arsenic, a colorless and odorless poison, in organic powdered baby formula. The culprit was reported to be organic brown rice syrup. According to Jackson, “That infant formula contained six times more arsenic than the Environmental Protection Agency considers safe for the water supply [ABC News].
Arsenic is a naturally occurring element widely distributed in the earth’s crust. Inorganic arsenic compounds are mainly used to preserve wood. Copper chromated arsenate (CCA) is used to make “pressure-treated” lumber. CCA is no longer used in the U.S. for residential uses; it is still used in industrial applications. We are seeing it now ln the form of increasing numbers of children with nut allergies, rising cases of antibiotic resistant pathogens, autoimmune disorders, cancers, digestive disorders and more. However, pesticides are not included in the defintion of a bioterrorist attack.

Everytime we purchase food, we make a quality of life decision. As seen in this film, people in India and Europe have committed to mobilize citizens through grassroots education. In the US, consumers are now using their wallets to turn the tides.
According to a recent Mambo Sprouts marketing survey, 93% of the 1,000 health food consumers are not buying GMO foods and want to know more about non-GMO foods, and 53% of those surveyed are planning to buy more non-GMO foods this year. [The Organic and Non-GMO Report ].
The gauntlet has been thrown. The challenge is on.
