Biography

A final year MSci student at Imperial College London Department of Physics, this handsome young rapscallion decided that it was about time to bring 'complicated' science to the masses. It was his belief that everyone deserves to understand how the world around them works and by george he was going to help!

My Urban Times Story

It was a cold and blustery day in the early spring of central London, when a windswept and dejected young physicist tumbled through the revolving doors into the towering entity that is Imperial College's Blackett Laboratory. His troubles were greeted by the faint smell of musk that seems to douse any academic institution after years of intensive study. From the east drifted the telltale honk of alumnus spectacularum, or as it is more commonly known, 'the short-trousered nerd', set against a backdrop of cheap biros on recycled paper. Such are the dry and itchy scratchings that characterise the academic jungle. The young physicist rose his weary brow to peer through the closing heat, making out the gambling shapes of playful muddles of first years interspersed between slovenly final years grazing in solitude. It was there and then he made a firm resolve that there had to be a better way. This was me only a few short months ago. If you love science as I do, but don't want to get lost in the sometimes stifling world of academia, then there has to be an alternative. My hope is to pass on all the excitement and wonder of the scientific world without it being lost in the centuries of convention and complications that tend to get thrown in. When a lab partner put me on to the founders of the Urban Times it was a breath of fresh air into a world that can often seem stagnant and uninspiring. Time for an airing methinks, and this is the place to kick things off. Out with the old and in with the new!
