Gareth Ogden

Biography

I am a medical writer and an editor of an online biomedical sciences journal, having fallen into my roles by happy accident on the most part. Although I studied environmental biology at Cardiff University and conducted research in a very specific area of ecology in the rainforests of Madagascar for a year, my current interests are broad and cover wide areas of both medicine and biology. In particular, I am fascinated by epidemiology and infectious diseases at the population level, as I believe that advances in this area of medicine have some of the most important implications for the developing world.

My Urban Times Story

I was introduced to the Urban Times by a friend of mine when I re-visited my old University earlier this year. I was immediately impressed by the magazine and its direction and really wanted to be a part of this ambitious project.

I am currently lucky enough to be able to write for a living, but I find that the work that I and other people do for the Urban Times breathes new life into my passion, broadening my horizons and motivating me to look more closely at the world.
